A total of asylums were granted in Denmark in 2022. The number of asylums granted peaked amidst the refugee situation in 2015. That year, * people were granted asylum in Denmark. Since then, the number of successful grants of asylum in the Scandinavian country has decreased steadily as a result of stricter asylum regulations implemented by the government, because migration routes through Southern Europe are closed, and because of COVID-19 in 2020. It is a stated target of the Danish government that no asylum seekers shall arrive in the country.
