An online study conducted in the United States in March 2022 found that 39 percent of all online adults had not seen, read, or heard about the metaverse at all. Overall, 17 percent of Hispanic adults said they had seen, read, or heard a lot about the virtual reality environment, compared to 14 percent of Black adults and 10 percent of white adults. Additionally, of respondents who were of other races and ethnicities, 32 percent said they had heard nothing at all about the metaverse.
