Overall, the French, especially young people, are relatively open to other ways and principles of organizing power. In 2018, three out of four people under 35 years old considered that a model in which citizens, not the government, decide what is best for the country would be a good way to govern it. They were also the most likely to accept the possibility of authoritarian leadership: ** percent thought it would be good for their country to have a strongman in charge who does not worry about parliament or elections.
