Around ** percent of respondents in Mozambique attributed armed attacks in Cabo Delgado province to Islamist groups. Other ** percent believed local people were involved in supporting extremist groups, while ** percent cited political parties as source of support for the violent extremism. Mozambique has seen the deterioration of an ongoing conflict in the northern province Cabo Delgado. Non-state armed groups are accused of perpetrating extreme violent attacks, including arbitrary killings and detentions, human trafficking, and kidnapping.
