According to the source, the Conflict Index assesses countries and territories based on four indicators, namely deadliness, danger to civilians, geographic diffusion, and armed group fragmentation. Values are from the analysis of political violence events.Â
As of the first half of 2024, Sudan, Nigeria, and Cameroon were deemed African countries with extreme levels of ongoing conflicts. The countries obtained indices between **** points and **** points, with Sudan ranking highest on the continent and seventh globally. The indicator measures countries based on the level of conflict deadliness, danger to civilians, geographic diffusion, and armed group fragmentation.
