The second round of regional elections was held in France on Sunday, June 27, 2021, and polling shows that the votes vary only slightly depending on gender. Women were ** percent likely to vote for the left versus ** percent for men, ** percent to vote for the right-wing coalition compared to **** less for men, and ** percent likely to vote for the Rassemblement National, which was less than their male counterparts.
The most striking difference, however, was in the abstention rate: ** percent for women, compared to ** percent for men. In fact, the abstention rate in regional elections has never been higher than in 2021, for both the first and second rounds.
