In the period between 2000 and 2019, Africa accumulated loans from China. In terms of value, loan commitments signed between Chinese financiers and African governments as well as state-owned enterprises reached around *** billion U.S. dollars. During this period, the highest number of Chinese loans granted to Africa was recorded in 2016, with *** deals.
