In a survey conducted in May 2020 during the month of Ramadan, around ** percent of respondents stated they only purchased essentials after the *** pandemic in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This share dropped to ** percent in July after Ramadan. Approximately ** percent of respondents in the UAE and Saudi Arabia decreased their spending to prioritize needs over wants.
