Less than half of the respondents to a widespread survey in the Netherlands indicated that they were willing to comply to the rule of not receiving guests at home until the end of October 2020. However, almost all respondents showed willingness to comply if the rule only lasted until the end of June. All of the surveyed coronavirus social distancing and behavioral rules were expected to lose support from July 2020 onwards. Nonetheless, most rules appeared to be relatively resilient. For instance, willingness to comply to hygienic measures such as hand-washing and careful sneezing was well above 80 percent in both time frames. In April 2020, the Dutch public generally complied with the coronavirus rules.
