In July 2020, most Russians supported Alexander Lukashenko and stated that the incumbent Belarusian president was a better choice than other candidates. By far the largest share of Lukashenko's supporters in Russia was aged 46 years and above.
According to the official results of the presidential election that was held on August 9, 2020, Alexander Lukashenko won 80 percent of the votes, while his main opponent Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya received ten percent.
