As of February 2024, the polls indicate that the political coalition lead by MORENA is the favored choice for the upcoming 2024 presidential election in Mexico, with slightly over half of the population intending to vote for this party. Followed by Partido Acción Nacional (PAN), Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), and Partido Revolución Democrática (PRD) in terms of popularity. In the last several elections, the number of casted votes for the presidential elections presented an upward trend incresing by more than 20 million votes from 1994 to 2018.

Mexico in the way to having its first female president

The two favorite candidates among the possible candidates of Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (MORENA) are, current head of governement of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum and, foreign ministry and former head of government of Mexico City, Marcelo Ebrad. Nonetheless, Sheinbaum has a considerable margin over Ebrad. Moreover, in recent polls around 51 percent of Mexicans stated that they are willing to vote for her in the 2024 presidential elections, which puts her in a great advantage over any other possible candidates.

The oposition in political turmoil

A political coalition formed by PAN, PRI, and Partido Revolución Democrática (PRD) called Va por México ("It's for Mexico") was instated during the legislative election as a direct response to the current dominant party MORENA. Nonetheless, the internal procedures for the election of the presidential candidates for the coalition gathered strong internal opposition, making many of its members leave the party to pursue an independent candidacy or leave the race entirely. Currently, the favorite candidates for the coalition are Xóchilt Gálvez and Santiago Creel both members of PAN.
