A June 2020 survey revealed that 20 percent of online U.S. adults with an income of under 50 thousand U.S. dollars had missed at least one payment for their internet bill since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the United States. In comparison, only 7 percent of U.S. adults with an income of over 100 thousand U.S. dollars had missed at least one of their internet payment bills. Internet access has become an even more vital service during the coronavirus pandemic, and 51 percent of U.S. adults stated that an interruption in their internet or cell service would be a major problem for them during the COVID-19 pandemic.
