Citation formats

The number of internet users in Germany has been rising in the last decade. So far in 2025, around million were counted. Compared to ** million in 2010, this is a significant development.

Age groups and gender

Regarding the share of internet users in Germany by age group, in recent years a pretty much even distribution could be observed between almost all age groups. Meanwhile, when broken down by gender, just a few years ago there were more male internet users in Germany than female, but after 2016 this changed.

Mobile internet and usage by state

With the rise and widespread use of mobile devices, plus increasing Wi-Fi coverage in various areas, it’s no wonder that the share of German mobile internet users is growing as well. As of 2023, this share was ** percent. Internet usage rates were generally high in all German federal states, especially in Bremen, Lower-Saxony and Hamburg.
