In 2020, a Belgian health program that aims at increasing the accessibility to injection materials for drug addicts delivered vast amounts of material in Wallonia and the Brussels-Capital Region. During that year, over *** thousand syringes were dispensed in both these regions, along with *** thousand alcohol swabs.
The aim of dispensing such materials is to limit the health problems that are linked to the use of contaminated material, such as materials used in combination with HIV, hepatitis, or tuberculosis.
