A study on K-pop consumption in the United States revealed that **** percent of respondents listened to K-pop for hours or more per week, and almost ** percent listened to the genre for between and hours on a weekly basis. K-pop has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, partially thanks to the 2012 release of 'Gangnam Style' by Psy. The music video for the song was the first YouTube video ever to hit * views, and won 'Best Video' at the MTV Europe Music Awards in the year of its release.
