The majority of K-pop music fans in the United States began listening to K-pop after being told about it by someone they knew, with a 2019 survey revealing that **** discovered the genre via a friend's recommendation. Just under ** percent came across K-pop via social media, whilst **** percent of survey respondents said that they had decided to listen to K-pop after first seeing Hallyu content such as Korean dramas or movies.
