In the lead up to the 2026 WNBA season, one of the most pressing issues surrounding the league was the pay structure. The previous year had seen WNBA players payed on average around 110,000 U.S. dollars, which was approximately 100 times smaller than the average pay package in the NBA. In March 2026, however, a breakthrough was made in negotiating a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.
