Opinions on sending troops to Syrian Kurdistan in the Netherlands 2019
In October 2019, president Trump withdrew US troops from Syrian Kurdistan, allowing Turkish military to move into the territory. The Kurds, who had been an important military ally and at the forefront in the fight against IS, feel abandoned by the West, and a majority of survey respondents in the Netherlands agree with that point of view. Despite this, there is no majority for sending EU troops to Syrian Kurdistan instead. Just over 40 percent of respondents stated they believe the EU should have sent own troops to the region.
