ASEAN stands for Association of Southeast Asian Nations and is a political and economic union composed of the ten member states Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Results from respondents from Timor-Leste excluded in the aggregated averages as the country is not yet an ASEAN member state.

In a survey conducted among in Southeast Asia in 2025, around percent of respondents reported their leading concern over the South China Sea (SCS) situation being China's encroachments in the exclusive economic zones and continental shelves of Southeast Asia's littoral states. Another percent stated that accidental confrontation between an ASEAN Member State and China that results in a political crisis were also concerning.
