COVID-19 and the hunger for entertainment

Facing movement restrictions for weeks or even months at a time, Latin Americans embraced video games as a means of entertainment within the safety of their homes. In fact, gamers in the region were those who most increased their playing time worldwide during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. As more time was devoted to this activity, the greater the need for players to be well equipped. According to a survey, monthly gaming expenditure in Mexico, Brazil and Chile, grew an average of ** percent during this period.

The future is mobile

Mobile devices have offered both amateur and hardcore gamers the flexibility to access gameplay at any time and place. In a 2020 study conducted in Latin America, over of respondents reported spending more than 40 minutes a day playing mobile games. The trend appears to be similarly popular across the region.
