Crafts and creative activities in the United States - statistics & facts
Sewing, woodworking, weaving, or pottery are just a few of the many activities commonly associated with arts and crafts, a hobby that enjoys great popularity in the United States. According to ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ’s Consumer ÌÇÐÄÆƽâ°æ Global survey, roughly a quarter of U.S. respondents mentioned DIY and arts & crafts when asked about their personal hobbies and activities in 2024, compared to less than 20 percent who said photography, writing, or making music. Breaking down Americans’ interest in DIY and arts & crafts by age group also suggests that such activities have a similar appeal across generations, as no significant differences emerged within the sample. Meanwhile, in a 2023 analysis on the main products sold by influencers in the United States, the arts and crafts category placed higher than gaming and food, with five percent of surveyed content creators reporting selling such types of products.
