Coffee consumption trends in the Nordics - statistics & facts
The United States is the leading coffee market in the world, measured by revenues. Therefore, one might think that this is also where the most coffee is consumed per capita. But anyone who has ever heard of the strong coffee culture in the Nordic countries knows that this is a misconception. In fact, Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden are among the top coffee consumers, beating many large markets. Because these countries have small populations, import volumes are relatively low compared to other regions. However, Nordic consumers prefer high-quality beans and have the means to pay for them. In 2023, Finland ranked second in the ranking of the global sales volume of coffee per person, ahead of Sweden, and Denmark. Shortly afterward, in sixth place, Norway followed.
