Coffee consumption trends in the UK - statistics & facts
The coffee industry is constantly evolving. Coffee lovers and producers are always coming up with innovative ways to consume and sell this popular beverage, as coffee is often an essential part of everyday life. In fact, according to a recent survey, coffee now appears to be the most consumed hot beverage in the United Kingdom. This is despite the long and important role the British tea market has played historically. However, coffee is still very closely followed by tea: in 2025, 76 percent said they regularly drank coffee, and 75 percent said the same about tea.
The revenue of the coffee market in the UK has been increasing steadily since 2021, and is forecasted to reach a revenue of over 10 billion British pounds in 2030. Taking a closer look at the sales of the individual coffee brands in the United Kingdom, Nescafé leads the ranking. As of 2025, it generated more than 38 million British pounds in coffee sales, around four times the amount generated by its leading competitor Kenco. Kenco achieved approximately nine million British pounds. Nescafé is an instant coffee brand owned by Nestlé, while Kenco is a British brand of instant, roast and ground coffee owned by JDE Peet's.
