Tea market worldwide - statistics & facts
China is by far the largest tea market in the world, measured by revenues. In 2023, the Chinese market generated nearly 107 billion U.S. dollars. For comparison, that is about five times as much as the Indian tea market in second place generated. It is no surprise that the tea market in China is such an important industry for the country. Originally, a medicinal drink from the Chinese province of Yunnan, this region is also known as the birthplace of tea. The hot drink therefore has a long history in the East Asian country.
