* The figures up until 2016 refer to the phenomenon area "politically motivated foreigner crime". The phenomenon areas PMC foreign ideology and PMC religious ideology were newly created on January 1, 2017. A direct comparability for the case numbers in 2017 with those of previous years is only possible to a limited extent. The newly defined PMC religious ideology phenomena area mainly covers offenses that were recorded up to and including 2016 in the field of politically motivated foreigner crime under the umbrella topic of “Islamism / Fundamentalism”.

** The crimes recorded by the police in the respective reporting year are shown. They are thus statistically recorded as soon as there is initial suspicion. The police crime statistics (PKS), on the other hand, are initial statistics. They show the crimes that were made known to the police and finally processed by them in the respective reporting year, including attempts that are punishable and drug offenses that are processed by customs. Statistical recording only takes place when the data is submitted to the public prosecutor's office.
