June 2024
Germany
2013 to 2023
* It is to be considered that the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has no confirmed numbers on some groupings und therefore these could not be included in the figures displayed.
** Due to a reform process within the „Islamischen Gemeinschaft Millî Görüş e.V.“ (IGMG), which led to a moderation of and consequently a weakening extremist connection in the organization, the members are no longer included among potential extremist persons, according to the Constitutional Protection Report. One of the results is a marked decrease in numbers in 2016. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution still points out that the decrease refers to non-violent groupings. At the same time a rise among violence-oriented groups is visible, which means that the state of threat has increased, despite the low potential in terms of the number of persons.
The Constitutional Protection Report for 2015 does not include information on the total number of Islamists in Germany, because there were no confirmed numbers available for many organisations.
Figures preceding 2020 were retrieved from earlier issues of the report.
Figures are partly estimates or rounded.
