During a survey conducted in Italy in November and December 2023, more than 80 percent of the respondents declared Italy should invest in solar energy, while 58 percent of them stated that the focus should be on wind sources. Although most of the respondents consider renewables to be the energy source of the future, the positive public attitude toward nuclear energy increased over the last few years. In 1990, Italy shut down its nuclear power plants after a popular referendum.
