Founded in 2012 and assisted by a Kickstarter campaign in 2013, Peloton is a fitness equipment and online subscription company based in New York. In 2025, the company reported revenue of just over **** billion U.S. dollars. This continued a significant decline in revenue after Peloton experienced a fourfold increase in revenue from 2019 to 2021. This was, in part, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, which saw the closure of gyms across the world and forced millions of fitness fans to find ways of keeping in shape within their own home.
The online subscription service offered by Peloton gives users access to a wide range of fitness classes, from yoga and meditation to cycling and running. The number of Peloton subscriptions worldwide stood at over **** million in 2025. This denoted a decrease from the previous two years, with subscription numbers having peaked at close to million.
During a 2024 survey, it was found that having a home gym was the second most common fitness investment in the United States. In total, **** of respondents said they had one, in comparison to ** percent who said they had at least one gym membership.
