The share of Swedes who favored the country's membership in the European Union has increased steadily since 2012, when it stood at only ** percent. The low levels at the time must be seen in relation with the euro crisis at the beginning of the decade. In 2022, more than two thirds of the respondents were in favor of the Swedish EU-membership, which must be seen in relation with the Russian invasion of Ukraine that year. Sweden became a member of the EU in 1995.
