Biotherm, the French luxury skin care company owned by L'Oréal, recorded the highest revenue among the skin care brands sold in Denmark in the first half of 2023. In fact, the company generated over **** million Danish kroner and was followed in the ranking by the American brand Clinique with roughly **** million Danish kroner. When looking at the percentage change in sales of the leading skincare brands in 2022, Biotherm showed an increase of about **** percent that year, while Clinique registered a loss of approximately ** percent. In that period of time, the sales growth of brand Kiehl's was the highest in this category, amounting to approximately ** percent.

Leading make-up brands

Clinique is a major player not only in the skin care segment but also in the make-up branch. In the first half of 2023, Clinique ranked first among the leading make-up brands on the Danish market in terms of revenue, with approximately **** million Danish kroner. The French company Lancôme ranked second, with a revenue of around **** million Danish kroner.

 International trade 

From 2016 to 2019, the import value of make-up and skincare preparations into Denmark increased from almost *** billion Danish kroner to nearly *** billion Danish kroner. As of 2024, this value added up to over *** billion Danish kroner. Within the same period, the Scandinavian country exported such products as well. The export value also increased, growing from *** million Danish kroner in 2016 to around *** billion Danish kroner by the end of 2024.
