Figures have been rounded.
The gainfully employed include all persons performing any activity directed at earnings, regardless of length of time actually spent working or time for which they are contractually obliged to work. To be classified as employed, it is irrelevant whether that activity finances the predominant livelihood or not. In the case of several occupations, the gainfully employed (person concept) is counted only once. The decisive factor for the professional position or the economic sector classification is the occupation taking up the most time. Those overseeing their own private property and assets (such as real estate, financial assets, stocks and bonds) are not included as employees.
