Danish food is known for red hot dogs, danishes, and smørrebrød. Furthermore, Denmark houses the highest number of Michelin star restaurants in the Nordic countries. The country had an accumulated 31 stars, including three restaurants with the coveted three-star Michelin. In addition, Denmark has 18 Bib Gourmand-ranked restaurants, which give out excellent, but familiar dishes, for moderate prizes. The high concentration of acclaimed establishments in a country with a population of almost six million illustrates the weight of the Danish dining experience and palate.
