Credit transfers, or wire transfers, are a method of electronic funds transfer from one entity or person to another. This includes bank transfers, which rely on a secure system of messages (such as SWIFT) from the sending bank to the receiving bank.

The total amount of credit transfers, or wire transfers, made in Germany has changed drastically between 2000 and 2023. The increase in the use of wire transfers took place during this period, despite some significant fluctuations. In 2023, approximately 7.28 billion credit transfers were processed in the country, up from almost 5.58 billion in 2000.Â
