This survey shows the percent distribution of opinions among U.S. physicians about the two most satisfying factors in the medical profession from 2008 to 2018. In 2018, ** percent of surveyed physicians listed intellectual stimulation as one of the most satisfying factors about medical practice. Many physicians in the United States are changing from an independent practice owner to an employee. Most continue to experience high pressures to keep up with demands for their services and suggest that new physicians must be trained to prevent shortages.
