According to a survey in 2024, feelings of burnout were more frequent among female than male physicians in the U.S. Feelings of burnout were also higher among younger physicians than physicians 46 year or older. Employed physicians were more likely to report feeling burned out than independent physicians. Moreover, primary care physicians had higher rates of burnout than specialist physicians.
