This statistic displays the percentage of U.S. adults by employment status that have reported certain sleep-related behaviors in 2009, based on the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System in 12 states. For employed individuals, 33.5 percent have reported unintentionally falling asleep during the day at least once in the last 30 days, while 5.4 percent have nodded off or fell asleep while driving in the last 30 days. Studying sleep quality, duration, behaviors, and disorders is beneficial for the understanding of sleep difficulties and their impacts on health.
