This statistic shows the weight status misperception among children and adolescents in the United States by gender, aged 8 to 15 years in the period between 2005 and 2012. During these years, 34.9 percent of boys between 8 and 11 years old, misperceived their weight status. Obesity among children is a major health concern that can lead to many complications in adulthood. Correct self-perception of weight in children may also be associated with appropriate weight control behaviors in children and adolescents.
