GBDVS 2018 was undertaken using an online methodology with a total of
35,746 interviews conducted with adults aged 16 and over who were resident in England, Scotland and Wales during 52 weekly survey waves. Note that figures for 2011 to 2015 were reweighted by the source in 2016. ** The data covers leisure day visits or excursions away from home (but in the UK) that last three hours or more and involve at least one leisure activity (as defined by the source), e.g. going for a meal, visiting friends etc. Data on day visits classed as tourism trips (i.e. to a destination away from the respondents' home or workplace and not undertaken 'very regularly' can be found here.
