鈦 Figures for 2021 were not comprehensively recorded as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Following the easing of restrictions in early 2021, the survey continued from April onward. A new methodology was employed, which saw the Great Britain Day Visitor Survey combined with the Great Britain Tourism Survey, as well as a new weighting system that reduced the number of weighted cells from 1,408 to 616. As a result, figures for 2021 and 2022 are classified as experimental statistics rather than official statistics and are not entirely comparable to pre-2020 data. Further information on the GBDVS methodology can be found here. Figures from before 2023 were taken from earlier publications.
"Tourism day visits" are defined as day visits not taken on a regular basis and located out of the participant's "usual environment". This distinguishes them from leisure day visits which include any excursions away from home including at least one leisure activity.
