In 2024, the military expenditure of the Americas constituted 40 percent of global military spending, of which the United States alone stood at 37 percent. On the other hand, Africa only accounted for two percent of the military spending worldwide. The overall global military spending in 2024 was 2.7 trillion U.S. dollars.
