This statistic presents the opinion of the French in December 2017 on the severity of the Shoah perpetrated during the Second World War. Thus, almost three quarters of those surveyed agreed to affirm the monstrosity of the Holocaust. However, nearly a quarter considered that this genocide was a tragedy among others during this war. The Jewish genocide resulted in the death of between five and six million Jews, or 40 percent of the world Jewish population. The Jews thus represented the primary target of the Nazi regime. Nevertheless, Nazi Germany also persecuted other populations deemed inferior by Adolf Hitler such as homosexuals, the disabled, communists, gypsies, intellectuals, Slavs, etc.
