The data correspond to estimates from the Resident Tourism Survey of the National Institute of Statistics of Spain. Since February 2015, this has continued the Statistics of Tourist Movements of Spaniards (Familitur) from the General Subdirectorate of Knowledge and Tourism Studies of Spain.

In 2020, marked by the COVID-19 pandemic, travel by residents in Spain during summer and Christmas decreased by around ** percent compared to the same periods in 2019. During Easter 2020, travel was practically nonexistent due to the population lockdown. However, in the following years, the situation began to normalize, reaching pre-pandemic figures for all holidays in 2023. Specifically, nearly ** million trips were made in summer, around *** million at Christmas, and a total of almost *** million during Easter in 2023.
