This survey represents the opinion of women in France on their ideal number of children desired between 2006 and 2022. It is observed that the number of children desired by French women has decreased. The most significant changes occur around the proportion of respondents not wishing to have any children, increasing from 2 percent to 13 percent over the period. There is also a sharp decrease in the percentage of respondents wanting three or more children, with a drop of 17 points between 2006 and 2022. There is then a slight increase of three points in the share of women wanting only one child, as well as those wanting two.
