This statistic shows the evolution of the political self-positioning of the French between 2016 and 2024. More than a quarter of the French identify as right-wing, compared to 22 percent left-wing in 2024. The far right attracts about 9 percent of the French. Note that one in five French people choose not to express an opinion in this survey. Moreover, during elections, there is regularly a significant portion of abstention.
