According to a survey of 10 countries in 2024, nearly half of older adults did not have any out-of-pocket spending on medical treatments or services in the past 12 months in the United Kingdom. This was by far the country with the fewest seniors who had out-of-pocket health expenditures. Meanwhile, four in ten elderly in Switzerland spent over 2,000 U.S. dollars in the past year on medical treatments or services. A quarter of older adults in the U.S. also reported this.
