Since the October 7 attacks, Israel's invasion of Gaza has seen the destruction or damage of approximately 81 percent of all structures in the Gaza Strip, including 92 percent of housing stock.

Gaza's healthcare infrastructure has faced significant challenges in dealing with the war's fallout, with over half of all medical facilities closed, while all of those in operation are only partially functional.

As of May 13, 2026, nearly 73,000 Gazans are estimated to have been killed directly by conflict-related trauma. However, alongside injuries, the destruction to housing, healthcare, agriculture, water facilities, and other infrastructure has undoubtedly contributed to thousands more preventable deaths in Gaza, in one of the largest man-made humanitarian disasters of recent decades.
