According to a survey conducted among Australian adults regarding the social media ban for under-16s passed by the Federal Parliament in December 2024, around ** percent of parents surveyed believed the new law would be effective in preventing young people from accessing harmful content on social media platforms. Non-parents had a more negative outlook on the effectiveness of the social media ban in preventing under-16s from accessing harmful content, with only ** percent of non-parents surveyed saying they think the regulations will be effective.
