According to a survey conducted among Australian adults regarding the social media ban for under-16s passed by the Federal Parliament in December 2024, around ** percent of respondents who were 55 years and over said they think the law will be ineffective as young users will likely use other people's social media accounts. Those surveyed in the 18 to 34 age category had a more positive outlook on the effectiveness of the social media ban in preventing under-16s from accessing harmful content.
