Opinion on the fault of the government breakdown in Germany 2024
On 6th November 2024, the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, dismissed the FDP party leader Christian Lindner, who held the position of the finance minister. The reason for this dismissal was due to differences in economic strategies as well as in the domestic budget. This caused the FDP to leave the government coalition, meaning that the government no longer had a majority. One of the questions surrounding this collapse is who is to blame. Around 31 percent of people in Germany thought that the fault lay with the FDP, whilst almost 40 percent of people thought all parties in the coalition were equally to blame.
