In 2024, the National Anti-Corruption Authority (ANAC) enacted 450 legal proceedings for monitoring transparency in tendering processes and for the prevention of corruption in the Italian public administration. Hence, an increase by around 14 percent was recorded compared to 2023 when almost 395 actions were promoted. In particular, surveillance on transparency significantly raised by 40 percent compared to the previous year, while the variation for surveillance on corruption prevention decreased by 13 percent. After a proper inquiry, in 2024 ANAC issued 61 sanctions, 25 related to the lack of transparency in the financial statements and 36 for the omitted implementation of local anti-corruption plans, 43 percent less compared to 2023 when 107 disciplinary actions were issued.
